To format a number in Tableau, you can right-click on the measure or dimension that you want to format and select "Format". This will bring up the "Formatting" pane on the right side of the screen. In the "Formatting" pane, you can click on the "Number" tab and then use the options provided to format the number as desired. For example, you can specify the number of decimal places to display, use a different thousands separator, or specify a custom format string. You can also use the "Formatting" pane to apply formatting to dates, text, and other types of data.

In addition to the method mentioned above, you can also format a number in Tableau by using the "Edit axis" or "Edit table calculation" options.

To format a number using the "Edit axis" option:

  1. Right-click on the axis that displays the number you want to format.
  2. Select "Edit Axis".
  3. In the "Axis" tab of the "Edit Axis" dialog box, you can select the desired formatting options for the number. You can specify the number of decimal places, use scientific notation, or choose a specific number format.
  4. Click "OK" to apply the formatting to the number.

To format a number using the "Edit table calculation" option:

  1. Right-click on a field that is being used in a table calculation.
  2. Select "Edit Table Calculation".
  3. In the "Table Calculation" dialog box, you can select the desired formatting options for the number. You can specify the number of decimal places, use scientific notation, or choose a specific number format.
  4. Click "OK" to apply the formatting to the number.

Using these methods, you can easily format numbers in Tableau to display them in the desired format.
